Robert the Bruce Boyce

Bruce Boyce & his singing teacher Graham Clark

1988 - Bruce Boyce and GC - Tourettes sur Loup

I heard Bruce Boyce many years ago on a CD of Frederick Delius‘ „mass of life“ conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham. I liked how the Nietzsche Texts were sung by that very clear Baritone Voice. But I had no idea that I would work with one of his pupils. Here is one older recording of Mr. Boyce with the legendary Django Rheinhardt: Enjoy…

Dream No. IV 1st of March 2014

Again a rehearsal: I was directing something. But soon I realized, that I didn’t know the play or opera. I wanted to look into my script, but I couldn’t find it. So I improvised. It was a scene where some actors were playing snooker or Pool Billiard. But there was no snooker table for the rehearsal. So we used a normal table. But the balls kept falling down all the time. The whole scene didn’t work at all. Then I woke up.

Dream No. III (27th of February)

A rehearsal… but not in our normal room (Probebühne 1) . A room, where there  is just a wall and some doors. I want Graham Clark closer at one door, but then I see, that in the wall and on the floor, there are hundreds of pins and needles. One needle is preposterous large, like Baseball-bat. In my dream I remember thinking: „The needle is so big. It must be dream-symbol for something“. But it was hard to walk, because of all the needles. I thought hard, how to go on with my rehearsal in this hostile enviroment when Graham came and said: „Let’s move a little bit over. Here’re no needles at all“, showing me a place at the wall which was perfectly nice and clean.

And then i woke up…
